Philip, I did send some info (I did not keep a record of it, sorry). I did get a reply that if I wanted 3D graphics to download open source. I was also waiting for the Noveau project to come up with open source 3D graphics.
In addition, I think it is the downloaded version of Ubuntu 9.04 I have that may have a problem. When I tried to download an upgrade to 9.10 it notified me that my previous version may be corrupted and it would not upgrade. I guess we are all at the mercy of the internet connections we have for data loss. I have ordered a CD for Ubuntu 9.10 to be sent in the mail and will do a clean install when I get it.
