I'll include the daemon and the udev configuration file in the next version of the Debian package, which should make it to Ubuntu shortly thereafter.
Concerning the force-feedback, I had a look at the kernel drivers and there doesn't seem to be a standard way of handling it, so you'd need specific support for your joypad.
