I just wanted to add that this issue seems more likely to occur when
something external causes the wireless connection to disassociate, such
as low signal strength or a congested AP. It happens pretty rarely on my
home network with the access point about a meter away, but if I go
upstairs on the fringe of the signal, the system is likely to freeze. Or
if I'm at my college, sharing an AP with 50+ users, the freezes are
pretty frequent.
