The Software Center (software-center) in lucid alpha + alpha 2 does not start in root as default.
Solution: add gksudo to the menu link and it will work! I am sure that the Developers may change the coding or script to make software-center start as default in root before the official release of lucid. Other add/remove programs likewise work if started as root. Minor glitch, easy to fix!
