I get the same thing when installing via PXE-boot on Dell Optiplex 960s. lspci says these machines have "Display controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)".
I do *not* get this awful flicker on a bunch of other hardware.
