Master5597: do you mean you're able to reproduce this bug consistently when creating an user with a password longer than 48 chars? I've tried to get the same result with a Live CD of 9.04, and I don't get any problem. Could you attach your /etc/passwd and /etc/group files, possibly replacing usernames to protect your privacy?
BTW, 9.04 is not an LTS, so please confirm you really mean 9.04 a.k.a. Jaunty, and not 8.04 LTS, which is Hardy. These questions are only meant to check that we can't fix this bug with a trivial fix that could go into Hardy, or that would be forth using for Lucid. But normally this is fixed by a more general change in Lucid as of today. -- users-admin (System->Administration->Users and Groups) overwrites group file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
