had the same issue when resizing a extended ext4 partition on lucid amd livedisc and trying to partition the free space with a new ext4 with a label set. (I thought to have seen that resizing was complete in the status and it began to create the new partition when it crashed, but not absolutely sure)
I go the error: gpartedbin assert failure: *** glibc detected *** /usr/sbin/gpartedbin: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x00007fc1a41624d0 *** After the crash the resizing had been completed but no new partition has been created.
