Doesn't look like an installer bug:
Feb 12 23:37:44 ubuntu kernel: [92482.938361] ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct
0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen
Feb 12 23:37:44 ubuntu kernel: [92482.938379] ata1.00: edma_err_cause=10000080
pp_flags=00000001, EDMA self-disable
Feb 12 23:37:44 ubuntu kernel: [92482.938395] ata1.00: failed command: WRITE DMA
Feb 12 23:37:44 ubuntu kernel: [92482.938421] ata1.00: cmd

Feb 12 23:37:44 ubuntu kernel: [92482.938428]          res

Feb 12 23:37:44 ubuntu kernel: [92482.938440] ata1.00: status: { Busy }
Feb 12 23:37:44 ubuntu kernel: [92482.938460] ata1: hard resetting link

... and then the target filesystem gets remounted read-only and it all
goes haywire. I'm not sure that the installation filesystem is too
happy either.

If you need to reopen this and reassign it to the kernel, feel free.
