I have read about the fan problem long before submitting this bug report
-- there are definitely problems, but I have no problems on Win 7.

Your two responses don't seem to be consistent. First you say that this
is a problem with the Dell computer, and that it is even worse under
windows, then in the second comment, you say that everything is OK on
both Linux and Window.

If everything is OK on Linux, then please send me a dump of the sensors
showing that the chip temperatures are sensed and the fan speed is being
adjusted on Linux, and I would like to know what configuration, drivers,
and kernel level make it work so I can get it working here.

On my machine, there are no fan drivers and no sensors, and I have tried
all the common things that are described on the web particularly the
Ubuntu wiki for getting temperature sensors working. In that sense, we
are not yet talking about a design problem where the CPU runs too hot,
but a problem where my fan runs at a very high speed all the time
(unless of course, the fan is controlled automatically, but that would
not explain why Linux and Win7 have very different behaviors).
