Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
Suddenly Shift 3 on laptop does not give GBP Symbol,only "3". Error
message "Error activating XKB confiuration" appears. Tried reconfiguring
xserver-xorg without success. Ubuntu Forums suggest that this type of
problem not unknown. All other Shift Numbers seem OK.
