So I went to my proprietary NVIDIA driver sudo nvidia-settings and disabled Xinerama (I have two monitors). After that, xsane did not crash anymore (I can scan again-yeah!) So the main problem seems to be with RANDR. The DBUS message and the GtkSpinButton warnings still show up, but no crash.
