Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debootstrap
Attempted to execute an install of squeeze from within this ubuntu karmic. Created an image file using dd, standard procedure. Mounted it standard via -o loop to a folder /mnt/ftp. Executed a simple debootstrap squeeze path/to/debian. I expected an effective install to the mounted file. Resulted in failed to download binary packages for i386. The entry was variations of http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ such as ftp://ftp. ..... I tried us.debian ...., de.debian ..... , and au.debian ....., then aborted. About the third step into installation and only about 10 seconds in, reported fails to download binary packages, i386. One reported corrupt packages, continued for a few seconds, then similarly bailed out. All terminated reporting failure to download binary packages, i386 ide...@karmic:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.10 Release: 9.10 ide...@karmic:~$ apt-cache policy debootstrap debootstrap: Installed: 1.0.20 Candidate: 1.0.20 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Feb 26 20:17:54 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) Package: debootstrap 1.0.20 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: debootstrap Uname: Linux 2.6.31-xen-r10 i686 ** Affects: debootstrap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- debootstrap fails an effective install of squeeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/528411 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
