Confirmed that installing openoffice.org-base (the database component of
oo.o) makes the problem go away.

Added upstream bug watch, updating also the description

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

- It seems a similar bug as reported # 6840, though that one was fixed in
- 2005. When going to "tools" and then "Bibliography Database", it crashes
- with no warning. It is possible to recover the work on hand.
+ Running the "Bibliography Database" tool in Writer (found under the tools
menu) without the openoffice.org-base package installed crashes OpenOffice. The
message on the console is:
+ terminate called after throwing an instance of
'com::sun::star::loader::CannotActivateFactoryException'

- Running on a Compaq 6720S.
+ Installing openoffice.org-base makes the issue go away.
+
+ Reproduced also with 3.2.0rc4-1ubuntu1
