@elim elim probably your problem is not with ubuntu but with the router itself. I have seen some lessner know brands to behave strange. I once had a belkin, its dhcp will choke after sometime its on, and wont give out a address to any client. The only solutions used to be to powercycle the rotuer.
well for my ubuntu problem "of not connecting after getting disconnected due any circumstances" i now run a cron script evey 10mins that checks for internet connectivity and if its not available restarts network- manager.
