Public bug reported:

I've used dual monitor on my machine since Edgy, and used Feisty for a
long time since it appeared. After an upgrade approx on 27th of February
and reboot, dual screen stopped working (I have LCD + CRT). Moreover,
one screen (LCD) was blank till i added HorizSync/VertRefresh (to
monitor) or CRT2Hsync/CRT2VRefresh (to device) settings. Same situation
is experienced by another person in our company using ubuntu on similar
machine.

Here are some details from my Xorg log file:
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 01:00:0
(II) ATI: Candidate "Device" section "ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AP [Radeon
9600]".
(WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found

(EE) RADEON(0): No valid mode found for CRTC2, disabling MergedFB
(II) RADEON(0): Total of 0 CRTC2 modes found for MergedFB------------
(--) RADEON(0): Virtual size is 1280x1024 (pitch 1280)
(**) RADEON(0): *Default mode "1280x1024": 135.0 MHz, 80.0 kHz, 75.0 Hz

I have tried to switch primary monitor with second in another order, but
it affected absolutely nothing. What do I see is the same image on both
screens now.

Setting up a new xorg.conf file with xorg-reconfigure did not help, it
just removed the MergedFB section, adding it back gave nothing.
