I tried my Zoom USB modem on another computer with a Lucid install. Had to install gnome-ppp. Pluggin in the modem: dmesg showed it as [10818.910199] usb 5-2: configuration #1 chosen from 2 choices [10818.912543] cdc_acm 5-2:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
then starting gnome-ppp: had to Detect the modem in the setup, and it immediately detected it. But it is NOT listed in the drop-down box. Oddly enough, it is shown as an analog modem, not a USB modem. Tried to make a few dial-ins: none would work, but the log seems to indicate taht it would have connected if it could. It could not, because I am now on a VOIP phone line, and those numbers are blocked or don't work for technical reasons. Can't tell whether it worked, but did not see strange messages on lacking permissions and such. -- [intrepid ubuntu] gnome-ppp lacks permissions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289239 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
