I am now getting this bug in 10.04. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 which
worked fine on all versions up to 9.10. I have only started getting this
issue since upgrading to the alpha. If I press Fn-Stand by, the machine
goes into standby correctly. It is also intermittent. It had gone away
but seems back in 2.6.32-16-generic.

In my case I shut the lip and the machine seems to have stopped but the
power light is still on. If I open the laptop lid the screen stays blank
and there is hard drive activity. The keyboard is unresponsive. I have
not tested sshing into my laptop (will do and report back) but the only
thing I can do is press the power button. The laptop then does a
powerdown showing the Ubuntu power down screen.
