I tried backporting it to 1.3.0, but it depended on this commit: http://git.gnome.org/browse/meld/commit/?id=516cc2576abc49d32a7d1176467387e4ede7e714 (which also needed small modifications to apply cleanly) There being no better way to spend a Saturday morning, a debdiff is attached, containing both patches - it works fine here on my Lucid.
