Please apply the patch from SUSE found in the gnome-bug report. When, (and if ever) they fix it more properly, we can always revert to that solution.
For now, it needs to be either patched, or ubuntu should stop officially supporting 1024 and therefor netbooks. Being able to select a language or sessions seems very core usability to me. So +1 for just applying the SUSE patch. They were right about needing a quick workaround. The current state is unreleasable and it's the first impression people will have. Chris, do you have to the right to apply that patch?
