@Thomas: my serio0 looks exactly like yours, however my FSP is serio1. i don't know about replacing the kernal, however you could upgrade to the beta of 10.04, it will be released the 18th if i'm correct.
are you 100% sure you replaced the psmouse.ko file? it's the part with the modprobe command.
