I recently installed Edgy on my AMD64 machine with kernel 2.6.17-10-generic and I'm observing the same problems as mentioned above. Shutdown works properly, but reboot doesn't. I tried hundreds of boot parameters concerning ACPI (acpi=off, acpi=force, noapic, nolapic, ...) with no success. Unloading the battery module as proposed doesn't show any effect either.
