It is still an issue. I am currently using Lucid and the 2.6.33 kernel
from the mainline PPA. Occasionally the microphone will pick up a lot
of noise and only my voice if I am touching the microphone with my lips,
and at these times the speakers can also be muted when I plug headphones
in. The rest of the time, the microphone does not work and when I plug
headphones in the sound comes out of them and the laptop's speakers.
The Terminal command you left does not work; the error message states
that -p is not a valid option.
