they say that 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: VIA Technologies, Inc. CN896/VN896/P4M900 [Chrome 9 HC] [1106:3371] (rev 01) only works with the 2.6.32 kernel, and uses module viafb. Trying the Lucid kernel on my Karmic install also resulted in crash. The crash looks similar to the crash I had when I tried to run sudo modprobe viafb on Karmic.
