Just a quick update: the original problem (wrong signal clocks) has been fixed upstream and the bug no longer appears with a 2.6.33 kernel (haven't tried a .32 kernel recently). There is only a minor issue remaining with load detection, which causes the monitors to blink when probing outputs (occurs when starting g-s-d or totem for example).
