Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups
Running on Lucid i386 I have been unable to access the cups interface from a remote system using: http://servername:631/ The browser would report no connection available and not receive anything from the host machine. The local machine would login correctly. I had enabled remote administation and shared the printer with Internet printing enabled. This was solved by installing firestarter and then looking for connections from the remote system and telling it to allow connections from all for this port. I am a little bit unsure of the internals but I know this has not been a problem on previous versions of cups/ubuntu. cups: Installed: 1.4.2-9 Candidate: 1.4.2-9 Version table: *** 1.4.2-9 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Mar 20 12:38:14 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Beta i386 (20100318) Lpstat: device for LBP3010: ccp://localhost:59687 device for LBP3010-LBP3018-LBP3050: usb://Canon/LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050 Package: cups 1.4.2-9 Papersize: a4 PpdFiles: LBP3010: Canon LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050 CAPT (UK) LBP3010-LBP3018-LBP3050: Canon LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050 CAPT (UK) ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-16-generic root=UUID=84de763d-0e1f-4c77-b91a-e32343dae65e ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-16.25-generic SourcePackage: cups Uname: Linux 2.6.32-16-generic i686 dmi.bios.date: 01/09/2007 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies, LTD dmi.bios.version: 6.00 PG dmi.board.name: NF-MCP61 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologies,LTD:bvr6.00PG:bd01/09/2007:svn:pn:pvr:rvn:rnNF-MCP61:rvr:cvn:ct3:cvr: ** Affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid -- cups unable to get connection from remote system on port 631 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542668 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
