I've got a similar problem this morning, I was running Lucid alpha-3 and did an upgrade using the gnome menus, after reboot I was left with an X-window and a mouse, no metacity window manager. Rebooting my system in maintenance and doing a manual upgrade didn't help. After several attempts I did CTR-ALT+F1 at the X-window, logged in and did:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade The above installed a lot of software, after installation I rebooted my system and everything was working fine again! -- no GUI after upgrade from lucid beta to current https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542546 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
