Now that I think of it, I cannot remember deleting such database or
file.

But my Ubuntu system probably has been slightly non-standard after I tried
KDE desktop environment. I think I never managed to get back to the Gnome
environment and totally remove KDE (and all the tons of stuff included) from
my system.

Could you advice me any easy way to 'clean' my system and get a fresh and
clean version of Ubuntu, either 9.04 or 10.04? Or to just fix this
particular failure? I suppose clean installation of either is always
possible, I have iso-files for both versions, but any not-so-radical method
would be appreciated.
