Ubuntu does not work well on LCD TV's yet. It works great on LCD computer monitors, but Ubuntu 9.10 and below can't recognize the correct resolution on LCD TV's, so the image is shifted and must be reset every time one boots up. Ubuntu 10.04 can't recognize LCD TV's at all because Noveau is used by default in Ubuntu 10.04 instead of the nvidia driver. For some reason Noveau is even worse at being able to recognize LCD TV's than the nvidia driver at this stage. Until a Ubuntu developer tests it on a larger LCD TV (42" or so) and figures out how to repair this problem one is forced to either use an older version of Ubuntu or Opensuse. Sorry for the bad news, but Ubuntu is well on it's way to being the best OS ever and the tech support staff is usually great about fixing bugs like this. - Adam
