Linux paltiel 2.6.31-20-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 12 05:23:09 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux My guess is that it's a timing problem: apps assuming the panel was already loaded when in fact it hasn't been loaded yet, or something like that. I think that that's the reason why if I log out and log in again it works fine: libraries were already loaded, so starting up the environment is faster so the problem doesn't happen.
