Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-mono

I'm using ubuntu-mono 0.0.10. The way it is, the icon is greyed out and
when you get a new message it turns the same color as the rest of the
panel icons. There is a red icon, but I'm going to assume this is for
urgent/important emails. While working, it is hard to notice the
messaging icon because it is the same color as the rest. I think it
should go back to how it was before, and have the icon the same color as
the rest, switch to green on new messages, and red on important
messages. I do not think color would be an issue since it should only be
color for a very small percentage of computer usage. It also would help
to bring your attention to it if you receive a message while you are
away. In my opinion, it is more important to keep minimalistic icons,
then to have no color. I feel that the current color is a usability
issue and should be resolved.
