I removed "likewise-open" and "likewise-open-gui" from the preseed configuration file. I instead had them installed during the first boot- up of the system via a startup script. I also had it join the machine to the domain. It all worked flawlessly using this method. So, I'm just going to assume the Likewise-Open 5.4 is NOT installable via preseeding (which is fine; other packages are like this, too).
