Looks like you have a corrupted package list, as Michael probably suspected. Can you actually upload your /var/lib/apt/lists/in.archive.ubuntu .com_ubuntu_dists_karmic_main_binary-i386_Packages instead of just a screenshot? Just click "Add attachment or patch" and then navigate to the file.
