I can confirme that bug on my new desktop with MSI motherboard, the problem is certainly the Jmicron chipset. Desactivate it, permit a clean boot, with my previous installation of Feisty, but installation from a cdrom of Herd5 on that port become then impossible.
When Jmicron activated, the kernel or modprobe seems to segfault when the module is inserted (i'll read docs to try produce a backtrace and send that to you), but problem is related to a memory access. I've tested with 2.6.20-10-generic et 2.6.20-9-generic, same problem, but livecd of Eddgy boot perfectly, Maybe can I try with older kernel. -- Kubuntu Feisty Herd 4 live CD hangs at boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/87617 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
