Checking here, plymouth 0.8.1-2 is the version currently installed. As you are probably aware I met it whilst fighting with bug #551263, and was using "break=bottom" to try and discover what was going on before the described crash when I realised the Enter key didn't work always. I'll do an update later (I notice plymouth -3 is now available and try to reproduce it.
