have tested this and created a short Openshot DVD from a .flv and a .mp4 file. Output was OK. No sound issues.
Installed via synaptic after added ppa - each component marked individually to upgrade - see attachment for components marked to be upgraded and the results from the upgrade. Also started openshot from command line. No obvious output from mlt.
