I have and update with a partial solution. If I disable KMS, I see the login prompt correctly:
dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc -> Linux default command line -> radeon.modeset=1 and/or: echo options radeon modeset=0 > /etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf This is not a full solution, still I can't see the grub menu.
