Hi ^_Pepe_^ and Azzeddine. The HW is as far as I can tell identical to mine. The only thing that might differ (that I can think of could be relevant) is that my machine has several systems installed in various partitions. I.e. two Ubuntu installations (9.05 and 10.04) and the original Windows Business Vista partition.
Azzeddine: I had an even older BIOS (R2163M3) originally up until two days ago. As far as I can tell, the main difference between my original BIOS and the new one is that VT is unlocked (and now activated). The BIOS update made no difference as far as I can tell. I did ask around at the sony vaio z series mailing list since November 2009. No one seemed to have experienced the same issue, and I was encouraged to file the bug here. I tried to use use the sony-laptop- zseries (i.e. sony-laptop kernel-module) since version 9, 9np1 and now 9np5. During Karmic, these drivers were the only way to get built-in 3G to work. Since Lucid, the vanilla 0.6 version of the module is sufficient to get 3G working. I just run apport-bug linux to append this bug-repport, but I'm not sure where it went. Attaching a manual copy (output from 'apport-cli linux') and also also the output of a few manual operations (see the immediately following posts): Best Regards, ** Attachment added: "apport.linux-image-2.6.32-19-generic.S70aPm.apport" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/43159781/apport.linux-image-2.6.32-19-generic.S70aPm.apport -- [Sony Corporation VGN-Z21WN_B] hibernate/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
