Binary package hint: synaptic
bug consists of synaptic giving "updates successfully applied" when no
configuration has been done.
to fix, I have to hit apply again. additional details include the facts :
kernel is linux-i386
upgrade to feisty was from breezy.
all versions of files latest available in feisty repos.

also , aptitude now removes unused packages!.I am like , whoa, and
in case I have to use it again, could someone email me with the steps to turn
it off ?
