Today, I reproduced for the third time the error after installing mdadm
to get more and better info:

Yes, there was a /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf file before installing mdadm.
Changed this to mmadmin.conf. After installing mdamd (2.6.7.1-1ubuntu13)
a new /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf appears. With diff mmadmin.conf mdadmin.conf
no difference found.

Using default in grub list: (initrd.img- and vmlinuz-) 2.6.31-20
-generic-pae:

After reboot a ALERT! /dev/mapper/pc072003-root does not exist. Dropping
to a shell with (initramfs) prompt.

Now reboot with the word single before root=/... in grub (alias recovery
mode). Same error.

Trying to use a other image (initramfs-/vmlinuz- 2.6.31-20-generic) in
the grub-list will boot the system. Because mdadm have not changed this
initramfs. The only difference is -pae! I could check now that mdadm is
monitoring with ps ax | grep mdadm. Running with a pid. On a LVM2
partition and without modifyed initramfs-2.6.31-20-generic!

Looking back: Something goes wrong with -pae.

Next step!
