  The MD list then shows my 3.0 GB RAID 0 partition, but there's an entry
  underneath it that reports 131 KB unusable.
  
  This occurs even when:
  
  1. Both HDDs have way more than enough space for the partitions. I only
  created 2 1.5 GB partitions to have the root file system at the
  beginning portions of both HDDs.
  
  2. The HDDs tested fine. (I doubt that I would get bad sectors from just
  turning on my PC after being off for a day.)

I created a RAID 0 array, with 2 partitions of 1.5 GB for 3.0 GB and then I 
noticed the RAID partition list reported 131 KB as "unusable". My HDDs are fine.
