The problem seems to be in Ubuntu install procedure. I installed Ubuntu using local language locale (Czech) and then changed one of accounts (mine) to US. Other users using original language settings don't have problem with mail sorting of evolution. So my hypothesis is the sorting problems are caused by changing language settings after installation.
