I remember last week that I saw a metacity process when I ran ps -e.

Anyhow, in some of the latest updates, the problem disappeared.
The windows are now created in the right place, with borders and it is possible
to move them.
Also, the problem with the "keep settings"-dialog freezing is now gone (see my
post from 2010-04-10 above).

When I check today, I see that I have both compiz and metacity
installed. Is that good?

runing "ps -eF | grep metacity" gives the following output:
jonas 20436 20435 0 24394 11720 0 21:03 ? 00:00:00
/usr/bin/metacity --replace

running "ps -eF | grep compiz" gives the following output:
jonas 20435 1 0 457 512 1 21:03 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh -c
/usr/bin/compiz-decorator
