I also can confirm this problem. A Ralink pci card 00:09.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
is driven by the rt61 driver. I have a 32bit single core system, so I don't think that the problem is SMP related. Same problems here: The system freezes completly from one second to another, sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes after some hours.
