I have the same issue with Kubuntu 10.04 beta and kernel 2.6.32-20/2.6.32-21 on Sony VAIO VPC EB1E1E.
For me the crash occurs right after I choose Reboot or Shut down from KDE Application launcher menu. It shows that plazma-desktop crashed with Segmentation fault and after few seconds reboots/shuts down. Workaround: If I reboot/shutdown by running 'sudo reboot' / 'sudo halt' it doesn't crash.
