For I exchanged the K550DTN for a Color Lasejet 8550DN I cannot continue to give further information.
However, I would like to mention that there is a very similar problem with the Color Laserjet: - Printing from Firefox, OOffice, Acrobat works fine - JPG-Printing from eog, f-spot causes a printer crash I asked a launchpad question.
