/usr/lib/libGL.so.1 is not supposed to exist in Ubuntu Lucid (as the new 
alternatives system works in a different way). Having one will definitely cause 
problems.

Note: you should not create a new link as, if you installed the fglrx
driver with Jockey, ldconfig will know where to find fglrx's libGL
libraries.
