Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ntp
/etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate contains script, which should update time, when network interface started. But, time doesn't updated for me "from the box", because there are no valid ntp server in the default settings: a...@a-laptop:/etc$ cat default/ntpdate.orig # The settings in this file are used by the program ntpdate-debian, but not # by the upstream program ntpdate. # Set to "yes" to take the server list from /etc/ntp.conf, from package ntp, # so you only have to keep it in one place. NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=yes # List of NTP servers to use (Separate multiple servers with spaces.) # Not used if NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF is yes. NTPSERVERS="ntp.ubuntu.com" # Additional options to pass to ntpdate NTPOPTIONS="" a...@a-laptop:/etc$ cat ntp.conf a...@a-laptop:/etc$ /etc/default/ntpdate says to use /etc/ntp.conf, but, /etc/ntp.conf is empty I don't know what is original idea of authors, but I fixed /etc/default/ntpdate for use ubuntu NTP server.
