A continuation of the previous comments: The hangups happen even when I am running from the LiveCD mode. Also it happens when I had openSUSE 10.2 and Mandriva 2007. Though I have had only ubuntu on my laptop for 99% of the time. I have Xubuntu 6.10 on a desktop PC, and it shows no sign of hangups (runs for days and weeks without need for reboot!). My hunch it could be some fatal combination of my laptop's hardware and the OS. The upcoming ubuntu 7.04 will hopefully find a cure???
