Just a comment for clarification - my issue with the ALPS touchpad isn't
inability to scroll, it's an inability to use the syndaemon touch
disabler (because the synaptics driver isn't loaded), which makes it
difficult to type long papers. This was established in the xserver-xorg-
input-synaptics bug discussion before I was told that I needed to back
down to the kernel level. But to be honest, so far it seems like the
same root issue. Just wanted to add that input.
