Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp
Ever since I installed the Karmic Koala my system (Acer Core 2 Duo laptop) crashes every couple of days. The GUI crashes, a login prompt is visible for a while and then the system freezes. These are the lines in the syslog just before the crash: Apr 21 10:57:08 localhost kernel: [175533.824438] Xorg:1316 conflicting memory types f3bae000-f3e0f000 write-combining<->uncached-minus Apr 21 10:57:08 localhost kernel: [175533.824442] reserve_memtype failed 0xf3bae000-0xf3e0f000, track write-combining, req write-combining Apr 21 10:57:08 localhost kernel: [175533.824446] [fglrx:KCL_MEM_VM_MapRegion] *ERROR* remap_pfn_range failed Apr 21 10:57:08 localhost kernel: [175533.824458] [fglrx:__create_mapping] *ERROR* Can not get virtual address Apr 21 10:57:08 localhost kernel: [175533.824461] [fglrx:__mc_heap_map_virtual_space] *ERROR* Failed to map the virtual space Apr 21 10:57:08 localhost kernel: [175533.824463] [fglrx:mc_heap_map_virtual_space] *ERROR* Can not get virtual address Apr 21 10:57:08 localhost kernel: [175533.824465] [fglrx:MCIL_GetVirtualAddressInDescriptor] *ERROR* Can not get the virtual address Apr 21 10:57:23 localhost console-kit-daemon[1044]: GLib-GObject-WARNING: instance of invalid non-instantiatable type `(null)' Apr 21 10:57:23 localhost console-kit-daemon[1044]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_signal_emit_valist: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed Apr 21 10:57:23 localhost console-kit-daemon[1044]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed Apr 21 10:57:25 localhost wpa_supplicant[1309]: CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS Apr 21 10:57:41 localhost gdm-simple-slave[3744]: WARNING: Unable to load file '/etc/gdm/custom.conf': No such file or directory ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Wed Apr 21 21:21:52 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/yelp NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: yelp 2.28.0-0ubuntu2 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-20.58-generic SourcePackage: yelp Uname: Linux 2.6.31-20-generic i686 ** Affects: yelp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- "conflicting memory types" leading to system crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
